Summer on Hood Canal

We are open for recreational boating.  Shoot us an email or give us a call with your boating ideas.  Washington State Department of Fisheries has announced the opening of crab season Monday, June 30 – Labor Day, September 3. Crabbing is closed Tuesdays and Wednesdays during this season. Reserve your boat now, large or small. With a license you are entitled to 5 keeper Dungeness and 5 keeper Rock Crabs each day. Bring your gear or let us outfit you!

We have two boats with pot pullers and two others set up to make hauling crab pot lines easy.  These pots are not too difficult to pull by hand since crabbing is done in much shallower water than shrimping — 75 to 125 feet seems good for most areas of the Canal.

We will have sailboats for rent this summer.  One is a 12 foot Bruce Bingham designed Trinka 12.  This boat planes, has seats built in along each side and is suitable for those wishing to go fast.  The other is a Catalina 27, a cruising sailboat which sleeps four, has a small wood stove and will be ready for your day sail or an extended cruise to the bottom of the Canal and back.  The Catalina will be ready for rental about July 4th.

We are pleased to add a 20 foot long wooden dory to our rental fleet.  It has an electric pot puller and moves nicely with a 9.8 horsepower four stroke Yamaha engine.  This boat is becoming a favorite for those with parties of three or more.  The photos are from 2018 shrimping.

Our mission is to help you have fun on the water in a safe manner.  Let us know how we can help.  Jim
